Coronavirus (Covid-19): advice for

Sophie gallie dance academy

students and staff

What is Coronavirus/Covid-19?

COVID-19 is a new illness that can affect your lungs and airways. It's caused by a virus called coronavirus.

The symptoms of coronavirus are:

  • a cough

  • a high temperature

  • shortness of breath

But these symptoms do not necessarily mean you have the illness; the symptoms are similar to other illnesses that are much more common, such as cold and flu.

NHS advice

Stopping the spread of germs

  • wash your hands with soap and water often - do this for at least 20 seconds

  • always wash your hands when you get home, into work, or to dance class

  • soap and water is ideal; if this is not available then use hand sanitiser

  • cover your mouth & nose with a tissue or your elbow when you cough or sneeze

  • put used tissues in the bin straight away and wash your hands afterwards

  • try to avoid close contact with people who are unwell

  • touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean

  • attend classes at SGDA if you or your child are showing symptoms of illness, or have been during 48 hours previously

Advice for people returning to the UK

What to do if you have to self-isolate, are ill or need to look after an affected dependent

Impact on teaching

  • We currently expect teaching and assessments to continue as planned unless advised to otherwise by Public Health England.

Respect for others:

  • All members of the Sophie Gallie Dance Academy community are reminded to treat each other's with respect at all times. While some parts of the world are at higher risk than others it does not mean that individuals from those countries are more likely to be infected with the virus than others.
